A shoe repair shop opens in Wahpeton, ND moves into tarp repair and then new tarps.

1969
Growing tarp demand results in the creation of Wahpeton Canvas Company (WCCO) – and more new products.

1980
The Original Shur-Lok® roll tarp is born. No more climbing on trucks and trailers to tarp and protect your products! This simple, yet reliable invention revolutionizes the tarp industry.

1992
The truck cover division splits off from WCCO and relocates to Yankton, SD.

1996
A name change to Shur-Co® more closely identifies the company with the Shur-Lok®, its best-known product.

2000
Shur-Co® enters the auto accessories field with its TruXedo® tonneau cover line (later spun off as its own company under new ownership in 2007).

2001
Acquisition is made of a highly automated metal fabrications operation, giving Shur-Co® unmatched capabilities in the tarp industry.

2003
Shur-Co® is named South Dakota’s Family Business of the Year.

2006
Shur-Co® moves into trailer automation with the launch of the 3500 Series electric upgrade for the Shur-Lok®. Much like Shur-Lok’s intro over 25 years ago, the 3500 is unlike anything else on the market, completely revolutionizing the electric tarp industry.

2008
State-of-the-art expansion allows Shur-Co® to keep up with increasing product demand, bringing the company’s total manufacturing area to 150,000 square feet.

2009
The ProTrap® electric hopper opener and the industry’s first five-channel SMARTransmitter® are launched, giving the customers a complete SMARTrailer™ line of products.

2010
An important milestone, Shur-Co®, LLC is formed with the existing management team and sparks unprecedented growth and global market expansion.

2011
Shur-Co® is acquired by PCM Companies.

2012
Shur-Co®, LLC acquires Donovan Enterprises, a top name in construction and waste container tarp systems, with locations in Michigan, Florida and the UK, positioning itself for global growth.More products are added to the Shur-Co® line: exclusive SMARTransmitter® remotes, 4500 Series HD electric tarp, LiteALL™ LED work light packages, DuraPull™ semi-auto pull tarp and IronSide™ side dump tarp system.

2014
Shur-Co® acquires Brantford, Ontario (CAN)-based manufacturer Roll-Tite™ thus entering the flatbed trailer cover systems market. Roll-Tite™ is rebranded a ShurTite™.

2015
Shur-Co’s® global reach expands with product sold to over 30 countries across 6 continents every year.

2016
Growth continues apace for Shur-Co®, LLC. A new branch dedicated to ShurTite™ installs and repairs is opened in Sioux Falls, SD. The Shur-Co® of ND branch moves into a new 24,000 square foot facility in West Fargo, allowing for increased installation capabilities and better product distribution. And, finally, the Shur-Co® of IL branch, having outgrown its previous location, relocates to a new 16,000 square foot facility in Decatur, where it adds ShurTite™ installations to its already busy shop activities.

2017
Shur-Co® celebrates 25 years in the Yankton, South Dakota community.Launch of SWAT® roll-off tarping system for waste market.

2019
Shur-Co® acquires Ruff'n Tuff Tarps in Caldwell, Idaho. Re-branding the Caldwell location Shur-Co® of Idaho gives Shur-Co® a corporate presence in the Pacific Northwest of the United States allowing for better sales and service of the region.

2020
Shur-Co® opens a new 45,440 square foot service facility in Vermillion, SD.

2021
Shur-Co® is acquired by Behrman Capital.

2022
Shur-Co® acquires Dawbarn in Wisbech, UK, expanding product offering and manufacturing. Launch of waste and chip trailer cover system, APEX™.

2023
Launch of new waste market roll-off tarp systems: QuickFlip4™ & SWAT® SA. Launch of ShurLink™ next-generation wireless control system.
